Bethany Ortiz

My name is Bethany Ortiz and I am the East Valley College Access Coordinator. My journey into higher education began at the community college level. While in college, I joined many clubs, from the journalism club to the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society — of which I became chapter president. As the chapter president, I worked closely with other college students to complete community service projects, increase student involvement and inform students of college resources. I also worked closely with Emerging Leaders, a student-led course focused on facilitating workshops and classes on subjects such as self-development, social issues, and community awareness. After college, I earned my Bachelor’s in Public Administration from Northern Arizona University, becoming the first person in my family to earn a degree from a university.

Student involvement and engagement are my main priorities, as I believe these key characteristics lead to an elevated interest in higher education.
