Founded in 2002, Be A Leader has impacted the lives of thousands of underserved youth in Arizona. Be A Leader initially began as a scholarship organization providing Hispanic students at Arizona State University with the financial resources and mentoring needed to complete their education. Impacted by this experience, in 2006, Be A Leader began offering structured leadership programming to thirty-two 8th grade students in the Roosevelt Elementary School District. Since then, the organization has added additional programs now impacting thousands of students, 7th grade through college, annually.

CURRENT JOB OPENINGS AT BE A LEADER

In collaboration with the Transition Program team, the College Advisor will assist in the development of a comprehensive transition program that supports students during their senior year. The Advisor will be assigned to one school and will work with the campus’ senior population to facilitate FAFSA Completion, College Applications and support students with matriculation and transitional support.

Time Commitment: 15-20 hours/week (hours are mainly during school day)

Location: Phoenix, AZ or Tolleson, AZ (in-person at school sites)

Pay Rate: $15/hour contract (potential for PTE status)

 

The College Access Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the delivery of college-going curriculum for Be A Leader High School Clubs and Be A Leader High School Institute workshops. The position provides the vision and energy leading to the development and implementation of engaging onsite college access and leadership programming for high school and middle school-aged students. In collaboration with the Be A Leader Program team, the College Access Coordinator will develop short and long-range goals that ensure the growth and sustainability of the program.

Time Commitment: Full-Time

Location: Metro Phoenix; Hybrid Workplace

Salary Range: $42,000 – $46,000 per year; DOE

In collaboration with the Meta Network team and under the direction of the Project Director, the Postsecondary Transition Coordinator supports the development of a comprehensive postsecondary transition strategy supporting high school seniors with postsecondary enrollment and transition. The Coordinator will be assigned multiple schools and will work with each campus’ Meta Network lead staff in addition to supervising near-peer College Advisors to increase postsecondary outcomes at each school.

By guiding school staff through the Continuous Improvement process, PTCs will be at the center of examining current practices, data and outcomes and work with sites to create targeted, focused and sustainable practices to reach the project outcome of increased well-matched postsecondary enrollment for Black, Latino, and low-income students.

Time Commitment: Full-Time

Salary Range: $55,000 per year
