Lana Shapiro

Lana Shapiro currently serves as the Development Manager at Be A Leader Foundation. She is a wife, mother of twins and three rescue dogs and a transplant from Los Angeles, where she was born and raised. Lana attended Soka University of America where she was captain of the Women’s Swimming program and earned her B.A. in Liberal Arts with a social and behavioral science concentration. SUA’s mission is to foster a steady stream of global citizens committed to living a contributive life, which has influenced her career choices. After college, she began her career as an entrepreneur, creating a pool-based fitness company called Boot Camp H2O in Los Angeles. After selling her company, she dove into the investment finance industry, attaining her Series 7 and 66 licenses and working with a team of financial advisors in the Los Angeles area.

Lana’s move to Arizona in 2015, led her into the nonprofit world, where she finally found her calling. Leveraging her business and finance experience to help make the world a better place. Lana served as the Director of Development for the Humane Society of Yuma, where she helped secure funding for the organization. Once she became a mother, her and her family decided to move to Scottsdale where she transitioned into a role at ASU’s Sun Devil Club. Ultimately, her passion for educational equity drove her to a position at Be A Leader. “I hope to bring the diversity of my education and career into this role where I can help increase revenue and bring more resources to students who need it.” – Lana Shapiro
