2021 Taking Steps Towards College Success vSummit Dates Announced
Phoenix, Arizona (September 2, 2021) – The pandemic has challenged our education system in ways that none of us could have imagined. Our students, families and educators have been thrown into a world filled with uncertainty and are now navigating a new normal. Last year, Be A Leader had to re-imagine how we continue to support students and families during this time including enhancing our programs to offer additional and more frequent opportunities to engage and transitioning our annual Taking Steps Towards College Success event virtually. Although our community is slowly transitioning out of the pandemic, we have decided to keep 2021’s Taking Steps Towards College Success virtual. Our hope is that the following paragraphs will help highlight the need for this event and provide you with a solid overview of what we know will be an engaging, interactive, and unique experience.
This year’s Taking Steps Towards College Success event will take place on October 22nd and 23rd and will engage 1,000 participants in an interactive online learning & community building experience. For more information and to register please visit https://bealeader2021.pathable.co/
About Be A Leader Foundation
The Be A Leader Foundation’s (BALF) mission is to increase the number of students who are prepared for and succeed in higher education by empowering them with tools, leadership skills and consistent support, transforming lives and creating life-long opportunities. Be A Leader started in 2008 with an 8th grade program serving only 32 students. Their PIPELINE of college-access programs grew alongside its students and now includes eight, college-access programs and a Network for School Improvement impacting well over 14,000 students each year from middle school through college. The programs provide students and families with critical information and support during the often daunting college and scholarship application process. Be A Leader’s goal is simple – every participant attains a college degree. As of November of 2020, 78% of all Be A Leader students have enrolled in college and for those who have enrolled 74% are persisting or have obtained a degree. Be A Leader students have enrolled in over 400 postsecondary institutions across the country.
